Odisha shivers again as temperatures slide; Kandhamal below 10°C

Odisha is witnessing a fresh bout of winter chill, with temperatures dipping noticeably across several regions. Kandhamal district reported a sharper decline on Thursday, as the mercury slipped below 10°C.

Daringbadi, the coldest location in the district, recorded a minimum temperature of 9°C. The hilly town, often dubbed the ‘Kashmir of Odisha’, is known for its early onset of winter, and this week’s temperature pattern reflects the region’s typical cold-season trend. Clear skies over Kandhamal contributed to the sharper fall, allowing rapid heat loss during the night.

Statewide Temperature Likely To Dip Further

Weather officials indicated that cold conditions are expected to intensify across Odisha in the coming days. Forecasts suggest temperatures may drop by an additional 2-3°C over the next 48 hours. With little to no cloud cover over many parts of the state, nighttime cooling is likely to increase, potentially pushing more regions into single-digit temperature levels.
