Odisha sets up Kalahandi University at Bhawanipatna

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today announced the establishment of Kalahandi University at Bhawanipatna.

As per a notification issued by the Odisha Higher Education department, the new university named as Kalahandi University has been established under the Odisha Universities Act, 1989 (Odisha Act 5 of 1989).

The new university has been created after altering the territorial jurisdiction of Sambalpur University.

“In the exercise of the powers conferred by sub sections (1) and (2) of section 32 of the Odisha Universities Act, 1989 (Odisha Act 5 of 1989), the State government do hereby alter the territorial jurisdiction of Sambalpur University by establishing a new university called the Kalahandi University at Bhawanipatna with effect from the date of the date of publication of this notification in the Odisha Gazette,” the notification stated.
