Paddy procurement in Odisha picked up pace this season, registering nearly double the progress compared to the same period last year. With a sharp increase in farmer registrations, expanded acreage coverage, and a substantial rise in token issuance and paddy purchase, the state’s procurement drive has gained strong momentum.
Odisha Food Supplies Minister, Krushna Chandra Patra, shared the updated figures, underscoring the government’s efforts to ensure smooth and timely procurement across all districts while urging farmers not to fall prey to misinformation.
In terms of quantity, the state has procured around five lakh metric tonnes of paddy so far, a sharp rise from three lakh metric tonnes collected by this time last year, reflecting faster operations and wider farmer participation.

In terms of area coverage, registrations were made for 58 lakh acres last year, which has increased to 61.67 lakh acres this year. If we look at the figures up to December last year, 4.07 lakh tokens had been issued. This year, the number of tokens issued has gone up to 9.41 lakh, almost double. Similarly, paddy procurement stood at 3 lakh metric tonnes by December last year, whereas it has increased to 5 lakh metric tonnes as of December 24, 2025,” said Minister Krushna Chandra Patra.
