Bhubaneswar: Despite State-wide conundrum over the protest on the token system of paddy procurement recently, Odisha government on Monday informed that the State has recorded 18 per cent hike in paddy procurement this year as compared to last year.

State Food and Supplies Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain while addressing mediapersons today informed that the state government has collected around 3, 39, 65,465 quintals of paddy from farmers by December 7.

Swain clarified that last year the government was able to collect only 30, 89,908 quintals of paddy during the same period.

As many as 1, 42,932 farmers have received token for paddy procurement in as many as 1,971 mandis across 19 districts, said Swain.
