Bhubaneswar: Dilemma over admissions into IIM-Odisha for the academic session 2015-16 is not yet clear with the issue of its location is turning more complex and murkier day by day.

Minister of State for Technical Education and Training Sanjay Das Burma said in Bhubaneswar yesterday that the State government has already informed the Centre about its view on setting up of permanent campus of the premiere business school. Two sites in Sambalpur have been finalized and the Central government has been asked to send the site selection committee to make a final call on the place. Besides, the Human Resource Development ministry has been told about the temporary campus of IIM in Bhubaneswar.

Notably, the HRD ministry has sent a letter to the State government asking it to finalise a location to establish the premier B-school.

In the letter to the State Technical Education and Training department, the Union ministry clearly stated that classes for this academic year can be started at the temporary campus of IIM-Odisha only after the permanent location for the B-school is finalised.

Earlier, on March 2, chief minister Naveen Patnaik had written a letter to HRD minister Smriti Zubin Irani mentioning the proposed IIM can be set up in Sambalpur if guidelines of the Centre can be relaxed. In fact, the State has chosen two sites in the western Odisha town for the institute, the chief minister had said and requested the Union minister to send the site selection committee to Sambalpur.
