Intensifying its probe in the ongoing Odisha Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam, the Crime Branch on Saturday conducted a raid at the ancestral home of the prime accused, Muna Mohanty, situated in Kalapathar under the jurisdiction of Baideswar police station.
Authorities are investigating Mohanty’s involvement in the large-scale scam that has shaken the police recruitment process. The raid was aimed at gathering critical evidence related to the fraudulent activities linked to the exam.
Muna Mohanty, regarded as the chief middleman, was apprehended by the Odisha Crime Branch on Thursday after evading capture during an earlier surprise raid at a farmhouse where he was reportedly hiding. He was eventually arrested near Daspalla in Nayagarh district, just hours after escaping the initial operation.

Alongside Mohanty, two of his close associates, Sukanta Maharana (also known as Rinku) and Srikanta Maharana, have also been detained. A total of three suspects have been taken into custody so far in connection with the case.
Meanwhile, the alleged mastermind, Shankar Prusty, remains on the run and is believed to be hiding in Dubai. Reports suggest that Shankar fled India via Nepal soon after the scam was exposed, raising concerns over how he managed to leave the country despite being a prime suspect.
