Bhubaneswar: Situation turned awkward for the Commissionerate Police today during the State-level parade on occasion of 71st Republic Day celebration at lower PMG area when two girls were forcefully picked up by cops for staging a sit-on at the spot.

Sources said, the siblings were staging a protest demanding justice from CM Naveen Patnaik in connection with an incident when cops forcefully moved them from the spot in view of the Republic Day parade at the PMG square.

Later the girls continued their protest by sitting under a tree in front of Congress Bhavan on Janpath. However, the police again grabbed hold of them and shifted them to the police station.

The whole episode happened while the state-level parade was in full swing at the PMG square and Governor Ganeshi Lal was taking salutes from the contingents in presence of CM Naveen Patnaik.

Neither the police nor the two protesting girls could be contacted over the incident.
