Odisha Police Havildar-Constable-Sepoy Association calls off protest
Bhubaneswar: The agitating members of Odisha Police Havildar-Constable-Sepoy Association today called off their ‘black badge’ protest after getting assurance from the State DGP (Director General of Police) that their demands will be fulfilled soon.
According to sources, Odisha DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma on Thursday held discussion with the protesting members at the Bhubaneswar police camp office and assured the members to address their issues at the earliest.
President of Havildar-Constable-Sepoy Association, Santosh Satpathy said, “The DGP has assured to fulfill our demands by today evening. He has also announced that from now on, the leaves taken for an on-duty injury will no longer be treated or counted as leave,” he added.
Earlier today, demanding salary hike, abolition of contractual employment, hike in grade pay and pension and provisions for health insurance, around 70 thousand employees including officers of Odisha Police Havildar-Constable-Sepoy Association launched a protest by wearing black badges in the capital city.
