Jajpur: A police constable has brought serious allegations against Debendra Das, the husband of BJD leader and Bari MLA, Sunanda Das.

As per the complaint filed by constable Ranjan Mallick, the legislator's husband, local Zilla Parishad member and a few of their supporters allegedly stopped and manhandled him while he was on his way to police station yesterday night. They also allegedly issued death threats to Mallick.

Sources said Mallick was part of the police squad that was given the responsibility of removing banners and hoardings of political parties in Bari during the recently-concluded general elections. On account of the same, Debendra reportedly had a grudge on Mallick.

Moreover, Mallick alleged that his FIR copy was torn by the sarpanch of Balibili panchayat. However, neither the concerned police officials nor the MLA & her husband could be contacted to comment on the matter.

The story will be further updated as soon as their comments are received.
