Odisha Plus-II result delay: CHSE sets new deadline

Bhubaneswar: Amid considerable delay in publication of annual Plus II exam results leaving students and their guardians disconcerted, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) has set June first week as the new deadline for declaration of results.

General elections, Cyclone Fani and shortage of teachers have been attributed as reasons behind the delay in declaration of Plus II results, which was scheduled earlier for the last week of May.

Newly-appointed School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Das said, “Though there has been some delay, we will publish the Plus-II results soon.”

CHSE deputy exam controller, Prashant Das said, “Due to elections and Fani there has been some disruption in the Plus-II evaluation. Apart from this, shortage of evaluators has also affected the process. At present the evaluation process is almost over. Plus-II Science results are being processed and the results will be announced in the first week of June.”

Meanwhile, students and their parents have raised apprehensions over CHSE’s new deadline.

“We are under mental pressure as results are yet to be declared despite the fact that exams got over one and a half months back. Our career is in doldrums,” said Jyoti Prakash Mishra, a student from Cuttack.

Expressing similar views, another student Nitish Das said students cannot decide anything on higher studies as results are yet to be declared.

Educationist Pritish Acharya said, “Results of Plus-II students should be declared much before than the Matric exams. On the excuse of Cyclone Fani, the results must not be delayed any longer.”
