Members of the World Champion Indian visually impaired women’s cricket team received a grand welcome on Thursday as they met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi after lifting the T20 World Cup trophy in Colombo. Team India defeated Nepal in a thrilling final to clinch the championship title, marking a proud moment for the nation.

During the interaction, Prime Minister Modi congratulated the players, offered them sweets, and encouraged them to continue performing with confidence and determination.

“It was a delight to host the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team that won the Blind Women’s T20 World Cup! They shared their experiences, which were very inspiring indeed,” PM Modi wrote and shared a picture with the cricket team following the meeting.

The World Cup victory carries special significance for Odisha, as the team featured remarkable contributions from players from the state. Phula Soren, born in Salabani village under Remuna block of Balasore district, played a crucial role as the vice-captain of the Indian squad. Her leadership on the field was instrumental in guiding the team to the title.
