Bhubaneswar: Couple of days after Itish Kumar Pradhan, convenor of the state unit of National Students Union of India (NSUI), openly accused Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) chief Niranjan Patnaik of tying up with BJD, the NSUI on Sunday suspended Pradhan on disciplinary grounds.

“NSUI has suspended Odisha State Convenor Itish Pradhan from the primary membership of NSUI for breaching organisational discipline with immediate effect till further order,” read a notification issued by the NSUI yesterday.

“No one in the party has ever been suspended without a show case notice then why I was suspended without a notice. This is conspiracy against me by some leaders of the party,” said Pradhan after his suspension.

Earlier on September 12, addressing a presser, Pradhan alleged that OPCC chief struck secret deals with BJD and promoted dynastic politics by giving ticket to his son to contest the Lok Sabha polls from Balasore constituency in the recently concluded elections. He had also demanded Patnaik's expulsion from his post and the party.
