Bhubaneswar: Several State Ministers submitted their first monthly report cards of their respective departments to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today.

Earlier on June 5, Patnaik had directed his ministers to submit monthly report cards mentioning steps taken by their departments for implementing promises made in BJD's election manifesto. The ministers were told to submit their monthly report cards before Chief Minister's Office (CMO) by the seventh of every month.

School and Mass Education Minister Samir Dash and Tourism & Culture Minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi are among some ministers who submitted their report cards today.

In his department's progress report card, Dash informed the Chief Minster about the new initiatives undertaken. "I informed the Chief Minister about the new initiatives which we have taken like introduction of pass-fail system in both Class V and VIII in schools,” he said while speaking to media persons.

Likewise, Panigrahi said, "I informed the Chief Minister about my department's plan to involve the SHG members in the tourism sector so that they can keep the tourist locations neat and clean. Besides, we are mulling over opening small eatery shops for them at sites so that they can sell their products."

Opposition Congress, on the other hand, criticised the 'report card' system terming it to be a means to fool people. "What have they done in a month that they are giving a report card. Most of them have not even got their own chamber. It is nothing but only a gimmick to fool the people of the State," said Congress MLA Sura Routray.
