An eight-year-old girl from Odisha’s Gajapati district, who was living with her family in Bengaluru, was allegedly murdered in their rented house in the Silicon Valley of India.
The victim, a native of Kutiguda village under Mohana police limits, was reportedly strangled to death by an unidentified miscreant while her parents were away for work.
According to reports, the girl’s father, Ismail Majhi, and his wife had migrated to Bengaluru to work as daily wage labourers. On the fateful day, both parents had gone out for work, leaving their daughter alone at home.
Taking advantage of their absence, an unknown person allegedly entered the house and killed the minor by strangulation. When the couple returned home, they found their daughter lying motionless and immediately alerted the local police.

Locals have also submitted a written appeal to the Mohana police and block administration, demanding financial assistance to bring back the girl’s body to her native village for the final rites.
The incident has triggered widespread outrage and sorrow in the area, with residents demanding justice and stronger safety measures for migrant labourers’ families living outside Odisha.
