In a remarkable display of faith and emotion, a young man undertook an arduous spiritual journey on the occasion of Shivaratri to mend differences with his girlfriend. The unusual scene was witnessed yesterday as Lokanath Dangari made his way to Kapileswar Temple at Ambadala in Muniguda block of Rayagada district by performing Danda Pranam.
Lokanath, a highly educated resident of Dangabadi village under Ichhapur Panchayat, is employed as an operator in a company in Chennai. Despite his professional commitments, he returned to his village and chose a path of devotion to seek reconciliation in his relationship.
Parents Extend Support
Starting from Dangabadi, he covered nearly four kilometres by repeatedly prostrating himself on the ground as part of the ritual. His parents supported and assisted him throughout the demanding journey.
“I am doing this purely out of love for her. I may have made a mistake, perhaps unintentionally, and this is my way of trying to correct it. I cannot disclose the exact reason. I am a graduate, having completed my fifth semester, and I was working in Chennai. We left home at 3 am, offered prayers, and then began the journey, which is still ongoing. A cloth is placed in front of me, and I lie down on it repeatedly as I continue the ritual. I sincerely hope my wish is fulfilled,” said Lokanath Dangari.
The rare and heartfelt act drew widespread curiosity among locals, making it a striking sight during the Shivaratri celebrations and highlighting the blend of personal devotion and faith.
