Odisha Man Murdered For Rs 5000!

Balasore: A verbal duel for Rs 5000 turned fatal after a youth was allegedly beaten to death by his neighbour in Baghamara area of the district last Friday. The deceased has been identified as Baburam Singh.

As per sources, Baburam's mother Kati Singh, an under-trial prisoner lodged at Balasore Jail had sent Rs 5000 through one Budhu Singh asking him to handover the money to her family to facilitate her bail. Budhu however stayed shut and kept it in his possession.

A few days later when Baburam asked Budhu about the money, an argument ensued between the duo and in a fit of rage Budhu allegedly attacked Baburam with a wooden plank. Baburam fell unconscious with severe head injuries, following which Budhu threw him near Bhagabata Tungi.

When a few youths spotted Baburam in a critical condition, the villagers held a meeting, rescued him and admitted him to Nilagiri hospital for treatment. After Baburam was discharged from the hospital, the villagers left him at Budhu's house as his own brother had gone outside for some work. However, Baburam breathed his last Sunday night.

His brother Bidesi Singh, on the other hand, alleged that Budhu attacked him again which has led to his death. A few other neighbours also demanded strict action against Budhu alleging his involvement in the case.

Based on the complaint, Nilagiri police has launched an investigation into the incident.
