Odisha man circulates wife’s private video, arrested

A shocking incident has come to light from Bolangir district, where police have arrested a man for allegedly circulating obscene videos of his own wife on social media.

The accused has been identified as Jitendra Tandi, a resident of Gurjibhata village under Turekela police station limits.

According to police sources, Jitendra had married his wife a few years ago through a love marriage. Initially, their relationship was stable, but over time, disputes began to arise between the couple. Frequent quarrels eventually led to their separation, with the husband and wife living apart for the past several months.

The woman alleged that Jitendra would often threaten her even after they separated. Matters escalated recently when he reportedly shared intimate and obscene videos of her on various social media platforms, causing her immense mental trauma and social humiliation.

Following this, she lodged a formal complaint with the Turekela police station, seeking justice against her husband’s actions. Acting swiftly, police registered a case against Jitendra under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology Act for cybercrime and outraging the modesty of a woman. The accused was arrested and later produced before the court.

“The victim had lodged a complaint with us alleging that they had a video call on June 22, 2024. Taking advantage, the man recorded their intimate moments. He later uploaded the videos on Instagram. The accused identified as Jitendra, has been arrested and forwarded to court,” informed Laxmi Narayan Marandi, Kantabanji SDPO.
