Odisha labourer dies in Saudi; family seeks help to bring back body

Bhubaneswar: An Odia labourer was killed in a road accident in Saudi Arabia on Monday. The deceased, identified as Narendra Palei, is a resident of Gopinath Prasad village in Ayatpur Panchayat of Khurda district.

As per reports, Palei was working as a plumber in a private company in Saudi since last eight years. The incident occurred when Palei was returning home after work.

Meanwhile, the family members have urged the government asking to bring his body back to their village in Odisha.

His son Ullas Palei said, “I am pleading the government through media persons to bring back my father’s body to Odisha as early as possible so that we could perform all rituals.”

On the other hand, Balugaon Labour officer Santosh Kumar Mohanty informed that after a detailed probe, the report will be handed over to the Labour Commission.

“We are conducting a detailed investigation and will submit a report to the Labour Commission. Past records suggest it would take at least 2-3 weeks to complete the formalities and bring back the body as it depends upon the Saudi government,” said Mohanty.
