Bhubaneswar: In an effort to check absenteeism and irregularities of staff in entry and exit from office, the Odisha Higher Education department has rolled out an all new biometric attendance recording system for its employees.

According to a notification issued by the Higher Education department on Monday, every employee is required to record his/her ‘office in’ as well as ‘office out’ time in the biometric attendance recording device.

The department has made it mandatory for all staff to reach office by 10 am. However, a grace period of half an hour will be given as ‘office in’ timing considering all aspects like traffic, distance of office from place of residence.

The notification further stated that every employee is required to be present in office for seven-and-half hours and those coming to office after 11 am will be considered as 'absent'. Besides, action will be taken against employee in case of failure to attend the office in the scheduled time.

Here is the detailed chart of the new guidelines implemented by the department.

For preparing the monthly salary bill, the OE section will furnish the absentee statement on the basis of which salary bill will be prepared.

The biometric attendance system will be effective from Monday. Salary bill of employees for September and thereafter will be prepared on the basis of new guidelines.
