Odisha govt warns of RC cancellation for vehicles without valid PUCC, fitness certificates

The Registration Certificate (RC) of vehicles in Odisha may be cancelled if they fail to possess valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) and fitness documents, Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena informed on Thursday.

Issuing a stern warning to vehicle owners and operators, the Minister said that the enforcement of PUCC norms will be made more stringent across the state. He urged all the vehicle owners to ensure that their vehicles have valid PUCC as well as fitness certificates to avoid strict action.

The Minister stated that vehicles without valid PUCC and fitness certificates may face cancellation of their Registration Certificate (RC).

He further cautioned that habitual violators or those found flouting transport rules repeatedly could also face cancellation of their RC. The Minister reiterated that the Transport Department will intensify inspection drives in the coming days, with special focus on school buses to ensure the safety of students.

“Our government is taking stern action against PUCC. The next thing is fitness. Fitness will now be issued through Automation Testing System. Construction of fitness ATS centres are currently in progress. Though we had set a target to complete the construction of ATS centres, we were not giving permission for five districts due to the completion of the deadline. Arrangement has now been made manually. A target has been set to complete the ATS soon and issue fitness certificates,” said Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena.
