Odisha govt wants focus in non-plan sector
Bhubaneswar: Faced with inadequate funding, Odisha government on Saturday asked different departments to focus on projects in non-plan sector, official sources said.
A decision in this regard was taken at a high-level meeting presided over by Chief Secretary J K Mohapatra who outlined the broad areas for formulation of projects and schemes to seek State specific grants from the 14th Finance Commission.
"Mohapatra asked different departments and issued guidelines to focus on non-plan areas for which generally plan funding is low or inadequate," a senior finance department official said.
A core committee has been constituted to identify areas in which specific intervention is required from 14th Finance Commission during the period from 2015-16 to 2019-20.
The broad areas identified in the meeting include infrastructural constructions for Judicial administration, Police and Fire Services, health infrastructure, ICDS infrastructure, School Infrastructure and others.
Sources said different departments have suggested around 125 preliminary project proposals involving cost of around Rs 15,000 crore.
Mohapatra directed the departments seeking grant under 14th Finance Commission, to revise the projects and submit final list of proposals within 15 days.
