Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today came down heavily on the ruling-Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha alleging that attempts are being made to 'steal' Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) by using Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (BPGY) logo tiles in houses allotted to beneficiaries under the scheme.

Addressing a presser at the party headquarters in Bhubaneswar on Friday, Odisha BJP vice-president Samir Mohanty alleged that the Project Director, District Rural Development Agencies (PD DRDA) Jajpur has written a letter to a contractor to use BPGY logo tiles in houses allotted under PMAY. He further said that copies of the same letter have been sent to Block Development Officers of 10 blocks in the district.

"Who gave the rights to a PD DRDA official to change the name of PMAY and use BPGY tiles? This proves that a conspiracy has been hatched to wipe out PM Modi's name," alleged Mohanty demanding withdrawal of the order.

Out of the targeted 5.65 lakh houses in 2019-20, only 79,892 houses have been constructed so far under the PMAY scheme, he added.

Responding to the allegations, BJD leader Subash Singh said, "The allegations are baseless and devoid of truth. Without any evidence, the BJP leader is making such allegations."
