Odisha govt to table Rs 10,000 crore supplementary budget in Assembly today

The Odisha Legislative Assembly is set for an intensive session on the second day of the Winter Session, with the state government scheduled to present a supplementary budget of approximately Rs 10,000 crore on Friday afternoon. 

According to sources, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will table the first supplementary budget for the 2025-26 financial year in the House.

Apart from the budget presentation, the Assembly will take up Question Hour for key departments including School & Mass Education, Higher Education, Industries, Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes Development, Sports & Youth Services, Skill Development, Odia Language, Literature & Culture, and Social Security. Legislators will also raise the listed questions.

The Zero Hour is expected to be active, with both the Treasury Bench and the Opposition likely to raise several critical issues. The Congress is set to move a motion for adjournment on matters it considers urgent.

With major debates and political confrontations anticipated, the House is expected to witness heated discussions throughout the day.

Winter Session Began With President Murmu’s Address

The winter session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly began on Thursday with President Droupadi Murmu’s address in the House.  During her address, President Murmu expressed her gratitude and said, “Whatever I am today, the credit goes to this House. I am delighted to be present here. I have addressed many state legislatures before, but addressing the Odisha Assembly is unique.”

She added that without the blessings of Mahaprabhu Jagannath, she would not have reached where she stands today.
