According to sources, nearly 3.25 crore beneficiaries across the state are likely to benefit once the proposal gets the green signal. The Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department is preparing to send the proposal to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for final approval. If approved, this will mark one of the largest expansions of the state’s food security support in recent years.

Food Supplies Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Wednesday said the Odisha government is actively reviewing the plan to enhance rice distribution, as many poor families find the existing 5 kg quota insufficient for their needs.  Chief Minister will soon take a final decision on the proposal, the minister informed.
