Odisha Govt effects major IAS reshuffle on New Year, assigns new additional charges

The Odisha government, on Thursday, on the occasion of New Year, announced a series of appointments and additional charge allocations involving senior IAS officers. A notification was issued in this regard by the General Administration & Public Grievance Department.

Key Appointments and Additional Charges:

Satyabrata Sahu, IAS (RR-1991), Additional Chief Secretary to the Government, Home Department, with additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary to the Government, Forest, Environment & Climate Change Department, has been appointed as Member, Board of Revenue, Odisha, Cuttack.

Deoranjan Kumar Singh, IAS (RR-1993), Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Revenue & Disaster Management Department, with additional charge of Member, Board of Revenue, Special Relief Commissioner, Odisha, Managing Director, Odisha State Disaster Management Authority, and Chairman, Odisha Forest Development Corporation, has been appointed as Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary and Secretary to Government, Planning & Convergence Department. He will continue to hold the additional charge of Revenue & Disaster Management Department.

Hemant Sharma, IAS (RR-1995), Additional Chief Secretary to the Government, Industries Department, with additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary to Government, I&PR Department and Chairman, IPICOL, will continue to hold the additional charge of Home Department.

Shubha Sarma, IAS (RR-1999), Principal Secretary to the Government, Women & Child Development Department, will continue as Principal Secretary, Water Resources Department.

Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, IAS (RR-1999), Principal Secretary to the Government, Excise Department, with additional charge of CMD, OPTCL and Chairman, OSBCL, will continue as Principal Secretary, Forest, Environment & Climate Change Department.

Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, IAS (RR-2005), Commissioner-cum-Secretary to Government, Co-operation Department, with additional charge of Chairman, Odisha State Warehousing Corporation and Special Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, will continue as Special Relief Commissioner, Odisha, and Managing Director, OSDMA.

District Magistrate Appointments:

Madhumita Rath, IAS (SCS-2015), Additional Secretary to the Government, School & Mass Education Department, has been appointed as District Magistrate, Nayagarh, under Section 14(1) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.

Akshay Sunil Agrawal, IAS (RR-2019), Collector & District Magistrate, Nayagarh, has been appointed as Collector & District Magistrate, Gajapati, and District Magistrate under the same Act.

The notification was issued by order of the Governor and signed by Debasis Singh, Additional Secretary to the Government. Copies have been forwarded to the Government of India and various state departments for information and necessary action.
