Odisha govt creates 25,000 new teaching posts

Bhubaneswar:  In an attempt to woo the teaching fraternity ahead of the 2014 general elections, the Odisha Government on Thursday announced to appoint as many as 25,000 teachers including Sikhya Sahayaks (SS), multi lingual SS and contractual high school teachers.
 
While 14,181 number of SS will be appointed, the 3,500 new multilingual SS posts will have specialization in Telugu, Urdu and Bengali languages.
 
“The multilingual teachers would be of great help in promoting tribal languages,” Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said.
 
“Besides, 100 Telugu teachers will also be recruited to take care of the needs of Telugu speaking people specially in the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput and Puri,” stated Patnaik adding that the Government will impart training for Telugu teachers.
 
It has also been decided to recruit 60 Urdu teachers for the benefit of Urdu speaking students. According to officials, 50 Bengali teachers will be posted in districts such as Malkangiri, Nabrangpur and Balasore districts where the language is followed by students.
 
This apart, to cater to the need at High Schools across the State, as many as 4,707 teachers will be appointed on contractual basis, they added.
 
The Odisha government aims to start the recruitment process within a week which will be completed by this November.
 
The State Government has also announced to appointment 90 headmasters and Block Education Officers (BEOs) through Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC).
