Bhubaneswar: With an aim to retain highly qualified health practitioners in the State, Odisha government on Friday announced special incentives for doctors under Odisha Medical Health Services Cadre.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved a proposal in this regard.

As per the decision, doctors with super specialisation from Medical Council of India (MCI) recognised medical colleges will now get an incentive of Rs 30,000 per month.

Similarly, doctors with Post Graduation from medical colleges recognised by MCI will get incentive of Rs 20,000 while doctors with Post Graduate diploma recognised by Odisha Govt will receive an incentive of Rs 10,000 per month.

Meanwhile, these incentive benefits will be over and above those like location-based incentives.

Moreover, to retain doctors at their places of posting, the government had earlier announced 100% incentives for the medicos posted in KBK (Kalahandi-Bolangir-Koraput) and KBK-plus region (Zone -I) and 25% for those appointed in medical colleges in other areas- at least 100 km from medical colleges (Zone-II) set up prior to 2017.
