The Odisha government has announced that no official or departmental meetings will be held on Mondays across all government offices, following a directive issued by Chief Secretary Anu Garg. The decision is aimed at ensuring that public grievance hearings conducted every Monday receive undivided attention from officials.

The directive was finalised during a high-level review meeting held earlier this month, where administrative efficiency and public service delivery mechanisms were discussed. It was decided that all departments must refrain from scheduling meetings on Mondays, enabling officers to focus exclusively on addressing citizen complaints and grievances.

The order applies not only to state-level departments but also to panchayat-level offices, where meetings will similarly remain suspended on Mondays. Officials said the move is intended to streamline governance processes and enhance responsiveness to public concerns.

In addition to the new directive on meetings, the Chief Secretary has also laid down a structured mechanism for monitoring infrastructure projects. According to the decision, review meetings will be conducted on the third Saturday of every month to assess the progress of major infrastructure works. Each review will cover approximately 10 to 11 key projects to ensure timely execution and resolve operational bottlenecks.

The state government believes that these measures will improve administrative efficiency, strengthen accountability, and reinforce the government’s commitment to effective grievance redressal and project monitoring.
