An Odia sports presenter, Pramita Mohapatra, is set to create history as she takes the stage at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, becoming the first woman from Odisha to represent India in the prestigious global cricket broadcast.
Mohapatra will be covering matches in Indore and Navi Mumbai, marking a milestone not only in her personal journey but also in the state’s representation in international sports media.
From Talent Hunt To Global Stage
According to reports, Pramita Mohapatra first made her mark by emerging as the first runner-up in Star Sports Dream Job, India’s most sought-after talent hunt in sports broadcasting.
Since then, she has gone on to host the Indian Premier League (IPL), ICC tournaments, and several multi-sport events, earning recognition for her energetic presence and ability to engage both players and audiences.
Breaking Barriers For Odisha
In a field where representation from Odisha has been rare, her achievement carries significance beyond personal success. She is the first and only Odia woman to reach this level in cricket broadcasting, a space traditionally dominated by presenters from metropolitan hubs.
“It’s the ICC Women’s World Cup. The venue I am covering is Indore and Navi Mumbai. It’s the biggest ICC event in the world at the moment,” she said.
Notably, her success sparks hope for many young aspirants from Odisha, who would now look up to her journey as proof that no stage is too distant.
