Bhubaneswar: Odisha girl Sweta Mohanty has outperformed her previous feat after securing second position in the Civil Services (Main) examination, 2010 all India ranking declared on Wednesday.

Sweta at present serving as an Indian Revenue Service (2007 batch) officer in Siliguri, West Bengal has bettered her previous score in Civil Services examination.

While Sweta secured second rank, Chennai-based S Divyadarshini topped the list and R V Varun Kumar from Tamilnadu bagged the third place in the all India merit list.

The delighted Odisha girl is B Tech (Computer Science) graduate from JNTU in Hyderabad. Divyadarshini is a law graduate from Dr Ambedkar University and Varun Kumar holds BDS degree from Ragas Dental College, Chennai.

The adage “It’s all in the family” fits well with Sweta as her husband Rajat Saini and father Prasanna Kumar Mohanty are bureaucrats too.

Shweta, flooded with phone calls, text messages and friends dropping by, is overwhelmed by her success.

"I am really extremely happy but it will take some time for the feeling to actually sink in." "It has been a long-cherished dream for me," Sweta quipped.

Sweta’s father P K Mohanty is a 1979-batch IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, currently on deputation to Central government as joint secretary in the Union Ministry of Urban Poverty Alleviation.

"My father has always been a role model for me and I would like to contribute my part to the society like him," Sweta said.

The other Odisha students who fared well in the Civil Services examination, 2010 are—Arindam Dakua (32), Pinak Mishra (104), Sandesh Nayak (129), Abhisek Mohanty (139), Sourabh Mishra (183), Laxminarayan Mishra (316), and Madhusmita Sahoo (335).
