Bhubaneswar:  In view of the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown restrictions, Shree Jagannath Temple Office on Friday proposed Odisha government’s I&PR department to make necessary arrangements for the Live Telecast and webcast of the upcoming Snana Yatra, the bathing ritual of the Holy Trinity of the Puri Jagannath temple.

As the Snana Yatra is one of the major rituals prior to the conduct of Rath Yatra, Television broadcasters have been doing Live Telecast of "Snana Yatra" on their respective channels, which is very popular among the devotees of the Lord.

However, the entry of general public to the Jagannath Temple for "Darshan" has been restricted due to COVID-19 pandemic and nation-wide lockdown.

As social distancing guidelines have to be followed and there will be a number of restrictions in front of temple to ensure strict adherence to COVID-19 management guidelines, it is proposed that l&PR department may make necessary arrangements for live telecast & webcast of the rituals, wrote the chief administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration. The feed of live telecast may be shared with all channels and individual channels will not be allowed to cover the event, the letter read.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration ( SJTA ) had finalised timings of the rituals to be performed during the Snana Yatra to be held on June 5.
