A dramatic scene was witnessed during the public grievance hearing conducted by Cuttack District Collector Dattatreya Bhausaheb Shinde at Niali block, when a farmer arrived carrying a goat in a bag to register his complaint.
The farmer, Bishnu Charan Behera of Athantara village under Baharana panchayat, alleged that an overhead electricity wire passing directly above his house had caused the death of four of his goat kids after they came in contact with the live wire. He said another goat kid suffered severe burns on its leg, and doctors have warned that the limb may have to be amputated.
Behera added that his wife narrowly escaped electrocution while attempting to rescue the goats. Sharing his ordeal with the Collector, he appealed for immediate intervention and requested that the electric line above his house be raised to prevent such incidents in future.
