Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for multiple development projects in Odisha, announcing the start of a decade of unprecedented growth for the state.
The projects, spanning sectors such as semiconductors, industry, telecommunications, railways, healthcare, education, and skill development, represent combined investments exceeding Rs 50,000 crore and are expected to generate thousands of employment opportunities for the state’s youth.
“This decade is for the development of Odisha. The state has seen several decades of poverty. But now, several large projects are coming up in Odisha. Two large semiconductor hubs will be developed in the state. This is not only unprecedented but a vision for Viksit Odisha 2036,” said the PM at Jharsuguda.
Semiconductor and Industrial Expansion
Notably, Odisha has secured its position as an emerging hub for semiconductors and electronics manufacturing.
At Semicon India-2025, the state signed two MoUs worth Rs 2,655 crore with TopTrack Hi-Tech PCB Pvt. Ltd and Sancode Technologies Limited to establish advanced printed circuit board and semiconductor facilities.
Complementing these high-tech initiatives, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi recently announced 27 new industrial projects across 12 districts, attracting Rs 25,380 crore in investments and projected to generate over 52,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Education, Skills, and Inclusive Development
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stones for the expansion of eight IITs, creating capacity for 10,000 new students over four years, and inaugurated initiatives to strengthen technical education and skill development in Odisha.
In addition, 50,000 beneficiaries under the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana received sanction orders for pucca houses and financial support, targeting vulnerable rural families, persons with disabilities, widows, and victims of natural disasters.

A Decade of Opportunity
PM Modi emphasised that Odisha’s youth ‘need not go anywhere’, as companies and industries are coming to the state, creating a surge in employment opportunities.
During the event today, CM Majhi highlighted the ‘Utkarsh Odisha 2025’ initiative, noting 44 industries with investments exceeding Rs 2 lakh crore and the potential to create 1.64 crore jobs over the coming years.
