Bhubaneswar: At a time when BJP heavyweights are making whirlwind tours to Odisha, the Congress has now pinned hope on AICC president Rahul Gandhi who is slated to attend a series of public meetings in the State ahead of the third and fourth phase polls.

Rahul is likely to visit Odisha twice and attend address public meetings Jagatsinghpur, Anandpur or Balasore. The dates of the Rahul's visit are yet to be finalised.

Bhubaneswar District Congress Committee president Manas Choudhury said the AICC chief will visit which will bolster party's prospects in the coastal belts for the upcoming third and fourth phase on April 23 and 29 respectively.

This apart, the OPCC has also requested AICC to make arrangements for Priyanka Gandhi’s Odisha visit.

“Rahul Gandhi will visit State on two more occasions. Apart Rahul Gandhi, several other star campaigners including Raj Babbar, Shatrughan Sinha, Nagma are also scheduled to visit Odisha election campaigning for party candidates. South Indian actress-turned Congress leader Vijayashanti will also visit Cuttack to campaign for the party on April 15,” said Choudhury.

It may be noted that Rahul was earlier scheduled to attend public rally and participate in several programmes during his visit to Phulbani of Kandhamal district on April 9. However, the programme was cancelled in the last minute.
