Bhubaneswar: Re-polling in as many as nine booths spread across four Lok Sabha constituencies, two each in Sundergarh and Kandhamal, four in Bargarh and one in Aska concluded amidst tight security arrangements today.

A total of 70.5 per cent voter turnout was recorded in Sundergarh (booth no- 213) and Bonai (booth no-129) Assembly seats under Sundergarh LS constituency. Similarly, 68.15 polling was recorded at booth no- 210 and 222 of Daspalla Assembly constituency under the Kandhamal parliamentary segment.

In the re-polling conducted at Bargarh LS constituency, 73.8 per cent voting was recorded in Padampur (booth no- 16), Bargarh (booth no- 68) and Attabira (booth no- 235) Assembly constituencies. However, booth no- 254 of Brajarajnagar Assembly seat under the Bargarh LS constituency witnessed 77.93 per cent polling.

Similarly, 79.03 per cent polling was recorded at booth no- 182 of Sorada Assembly constituency under Aska LS segment.

The Election Commission had ordered fresh polls after the voting process was disrupted due to various reasons during the conduct of second phase of elections on April 18.

Re-polling was conducted at booth no- 129 at Uparpada-Kendrikela under Bonai Assembly constituency and booth no-213 at Rangadhipa under Sundargarh Lok Sabha constituency; booth no-210 at Bahadajhola and booth no-222 at Betanati under Daspalla Assembly constituency.

Similarly, re-polling begun at 7 AM in booth no-235 at Areigudi under Attabira Assembly constituency, booth no-68 at Shaktinagar under Bargarh Assembly constituency, booth no-16 at Dava under Padampur Assembly constituency and booth no-254 at Brajarajnagar under Brajarajnagar Assembly constituency of Bargarh Lok Sabha constituency and booth no-182 at Renti of Sorada Assembly constituency under Aska Lok Sabha constituency.

Elaborate arrangements had been put in place to ensure smooth polling in these booths. Volunteers were engaged to bring the divyang voters from their houses to the polling booths to cast their votes.

As many as five Lok Sabha and 35 Assembly constituencies in Odisha went to polls in the seconds phase polls on April 18.
