Bhubaneswar: Keeping in view the exponential growth of the capital city and ensuring better policing for its denizens, Odisha DGP RP Sharma today urged the State government to create another police districts in Bhubaneswar.

Addressing the 11th Raising Day ceremony of Commissionerate Police at OSAP 7th Battalion Ground here, Sharma said the capital city has exponentially expanded and in order to keep a tab on the criminals and criminal activities happening in and around the capital city, two police districts are required.

“There is a necessity for creating another police district in Bhubaneswar which will be instrumental in maintaining law and order. Therefore, I request the Police Commissioner to prepare a proposal in this regard,” said Sharma.

Sharma further informed that once the proposal is ready, it will be sent to the Odisha Government for an approval. “Setting up of new police stations and re-organisation of jurisdictions of the police stations will be required simultaneously while preparing the map of the proposal,” he added.

Following a parade, many police personnel who have shown exemplary work during their duty were awarded during the ceremony of the 11th Raising Day of the CP. “We have been working and will keep on working for our motto ‘We Care-We Dare’. Besides, the recognition that we have been given in this function will definitely boost the policemen to work with more dedication and enthusiasm,” said Chandrasekharpur police station IIC, Dipak Mishra.

“I am thankful and proud to have received the award. I had saved a person from drowning during a rescue operation in Kuakhia River,” said a Havildar of Bhubaneswar ODRAF, Babula Sahoo.
