Jajpur: Pure love is above all demands and expectations that comes from within and remains unmoved by obstacles. And a couple from Jajpur is proving it to be true.

The story of Ashok Mohanty and Bijaylaxmi is nothing less than a movie script full of ups and downs. Ashok, a resident of Ekatala village in Jajpur district was working in a courier company and used to travel regularly in train for work. During the period, he met Bijaylaxmi and gradually fell in love with her.

Everything was like a fairy tale for the duo until Ashok met with a train accident in the year 2013 and lost both his legs in the mishap.

However, Bijaylaxmi stood firm with her love and decided to hold Ashok's hand. The test for the couple was not over as they had to face the ire of their families and relatives, who were adamant to break their budding love.

Defying all odds, Ashok and Bijaylaxmi tied the nuptial knot in 2015 and the rest is history.

"I was trying to deboard the train on that fateful night with the luggage when the accident took place. I was immediately rushed to hospital by Government Railway Police (GRP) and my colleagues. We were in a relationship earlier and even after the mishap, we decided to get married," explained Ashok.

Bijaylaxmi said, "I was shattered after hearing about the incident. However, I remained firm with my decision to continue with the relationship. And now, we are leading a happy life."

Currently, Ashok runs a small bettle nut shop in his village to earn livelihood and his wife assists him in running the kiosk. Their families too surrendered their prejudices and accepted their relationship.

Ashok's father Tijan Mohanty said, "The marriage took place in a temple. Though the bride's family did not take part in the marriage as they were unhappy, they accepted the relationship later. Now, they are happily married and share a cordial relation with us too."

By refusing to surrender before the circumstances, Ashok and Bijaylaxmi have set an example for many.
