Odisha cooperative society employees stage protest in front of Assembly
Bhubaneswar: Members of the cooperative society employees’ association protested in front of the Odisha Assembly today.
The association is demanding government employee-status for all employees working with 2,708 service cooperative societies and Large-area Agricultural Multi-purpose Cooperative Societies (LAMPS). They are also demanding salary arrears, implementation of 7th Pay Commission recommendations, EPF and gratuity regularisation among others, sources said.
The association has threatened to shut down all cooperative societies, stop agriculture loan disbursement, fertilizer and pesticide sale and paddy procurement in the state if their demands are not fulfilled within 7 days.
General secretary of the association, Digamber Naik said “Our demands include government employee status for all cooperative society employees, salary arrears and implementation of 7th Pay Commission scale among others.”
