Bhubaneswar: Hit by infighting within the party, Congress in Odisha decided to hold a youth convention here on October 23.

"The Youth Congress will hold a rally and mass convention against the Naveen Patnaik government on October 23. The BJD had promised employment to one lakh youth every year in its election manifesto. No such thing happened. The ruling party has cheated the youth of the state," Youth Congress president Sangram Jena told reporters here.

He demanded that the government should publish a white paper on the employment provided to the youth during last 14 years.

Though Jena claimed the convention would be held against the misrule of Naveen Patnaik government, party insiders said it is actually would be a show of strength by the Jaydev Jena group after expulsion of J B Patnaik's son-in-law Soumya Ranjan Patnaik.

To a question, Sangram Jena, the son of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Jaydev Jena, said so far AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi has no plan to attend the rally.
