Bhubaneswar: Congress MLA from Dabugaon, Bhujabal Majhi on Monday accused IG-Prisions, Binayananda Jha of misconduct and demanded stern action against the official.

In a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Parliamentary Affairs Minister and the Chief Secretary, Majhi has urged action against Jha citing that his actions violated Book Circular No-47.

Elaborating the incident in his letter, Majhi said that he had gone to meet Jha on June 8 with the problems pertaining to jails in his region. When asked, he sent a slip with his name written on it and waited but the officer did not meet him. He even telephoned him but the officer didn't respond to his call too, the MLA wrote in his letter.

"Not behaving properly with an MLA is an act of belittling legislature's image. I have urged in the letter to take stern action against the officer," said Majhi.
