Bhubaneswar: A meeting of the manifesto committee of Odisha Congress was held today in presence of party's prospective candidates for the 21 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state. It is believed that Congress is focusing on farmer issues to turn things round in its favour during the upcoming elections.

Following victories in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan by focusing on farmer issues, Congress is upbeat about its performance and confident of forming government in Odisha. On the sidelines of the meeting today, Odisha Congress chief Niranjan Patnaik said that he is not sure of the number of seats the party may win in the 2019 polls, but he is sure of Congress forming the government in the State.

He also informed that AICC president Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit the State on March 2 to address a public gathering either at Bargarh or Jeypore.

It is believed that by highlighting the ongoing agrarian crisis and youth unemployment in many parts of the country, almost all the major national and regional political parties will make big promises in their election manifestoes to woo farmers and youths.
