Bhubaneswar: With an objective to reach out to people and revive party's organisation ahead of 2019 elections, Congress today launched a ‘Jan Jagran Yatra’ in Odisha.

Congress team led by Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President, Niranjan Patnaik launched the yatra in a bus that will cover several parts of Odisha.

“Our only aim is to hear the grievances of people and reach out to them. People of Odisha have been neglected in the 18 years of BJD rule and four and a half years of BJP at the Centre,” said Patnaik.

Patnaik further said that the Congress team will meet people and party at workers at the grassroots in all the 314 blocks of the State.

Reacting to Congress' campaign, Odisha BJP president, Basant Panda stated that it will not have any impact in the state.

“People very well know how India was lagging behind on several fronts prior to 2014. Any kind of Jan Jagran Yatra will not help Congress to revive itself,” said Panda.

BJD spokesperson Amar Satpathy alleged that Congress do not have the capacity to reach out to people.

“Everybody knows what will be the outcome of Congress campaign. They have launched Jan Jagran Yatra but ours is Jan Sampark Padayatra,” said Satpathy.

Satpathy further informed that BJD is making necessary preparations for the upcoming elections and party supremo Naveen Patnaik will take a final decision on candidates.
