Odisha CM Announces Cancer Hospital For Bargarh
Bargarh: A cancer hospital will soon be established in Bargarh, announced Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during his one-day visit to the western Odisha district on Tuesday. Patnaik also laid foundation stone and inaugurated several welfare projects worth Rs 150 crore during his visit to Bargarh.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the new 300-bed capacity building at the district headquarters hospital (DHH).
Official sources said, Patnaik inaugurated seven projects of Rs 70 crore and laid foundation stones for 22 projects worth Rs 60 crore in the district.
Patnaik also inaugurated a branch of ICICI Bank at Bijepur in the district. It is the first branch by a private sector bank in Bijepur and the bank’s 150th branch in the state.
“The district headquarters hospital was much needed as people of Bargarh were depending on Burla hospital. The hospital here will now cater to all medical needs not only for the people of Bargarh but also nearby districts,” said a local resident.
“The upgradation of district headquarters hospital was a long-standing demand which has now been fulfilled. The foundation stone for the project was laid in 2014,” informed senior BJD leader, Prasanna Acharya.
Patnaik later inaugurated a Science Centre which has come up on five acre land at an estimated cost of Rs 6.5 crore. It is the latest addition to the host of science centres set up by the National Council Science Museums across the country. The objective of the science centre is to make scientific knowledge accessible and enjoyable for students and others in rural and semi-rural areas.
Later, Patnaik visited Sambalpur and offered prayers at Samaleswari temple.
“An expert team will visit Samaleswari temple to assess the requirements and other aspects for development,” said Patnaik adding that efforts will be initiated to boost tourism in Hirakud.
