In a shocking incident, two Class IX students of Tikabali Government High School in Kandhamal district were allegedly found intoxicated after consuming alcohol during Saraswati Puja celebrations on Friday.
As per reports, the two students, dressed in their school uniforms, were found lying unconscious in a heavily intoxicated state near the Tikabali Post Office.
The incident triggered panic and outrage in the local area, raising serious questions over the responsibility and supervision of the school and hostel authorities.
Local residents immediately informed the school headmaster about the incident, following which the students were rescued and admitted to the Tikabali Community Health Centre for treatment. Medical examination confirmed that both students had consumed an excessive amount of intoxicating substances. After receiving treatment, they were later taken back to the school.

The incident has sparked widespread discussion on the growing indiscipline among school students. Serious questions are also being raised about how the two minors managed to procure alcohol while wearing school uniforms.
Responding to the incident, the headmaster of the school stated that Saraswati Puja was being observed at the school, and taking advantage of the occasion, the two students had stepped out and indulged in the act. He added that the parents of the students were immediately informed, following which they took both of them home.
