Odisha cancels bank holidays in cyclone-hit districts

Bhubaneswar: Keeping in view the grim situation in flood-hit districts, the Odisha government, in a notification issued today, cancelled the upcoming public holidays of banks and banking Institutions in Ganjam, Gajapati and Rayagada.

In a notice issued to various departments including the RBI Chief General Manager Bhubaneswar, the state government has directed that banks and the banking institutions located in the above mentioned districts will remain open during 17/10/2018 (Mahastami) and 19/10/2018 (Vijaya Dashami) which was earlier declared as public holidays.

This step has been taken to facilitate financial transactions by the affected people in the flood-hit districts, the notification read.
