Odisha businessman’s body found under bridge in Titilagarh; police launch probe

Police recovered the body of a young businessman from beneath a bridge over the Tel River in Titilagarh subdivision of Bolangir district on Friday evening, triggering a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The deceased has been identified as Nataraj Thanapati, a resident and businessman from Deulgudi area under Tushura police station limits.

According to preliminary information, the body was found under the Tel River bridge near Tushura during late-night patrolling by police personnel. Officers reportedly noticed a motorcycle parked on the bridge, which raised suspicion. Upon searching the area below the bridge, they found the body lying underneath.

Identity Confirmed, Family Informed

After the discovery, police traced the identity of the deceased as a local businessman from Deulgudi. His family members were immediately informed and later reached the spot. The body was subsequently sent for post-mortem examination as part of standard procedure.

Police sources said Thanapati was known to be engaged in business activities in the area, though further details regarding his movements prior to the incident are yet to be established.

Cause Of Death Not Yet Clear

The exact cause and manner of death remain unclear at this stage. Police are examining whether the death was the result of a homicide, a self-inflicted action, or an accidental fall from the bridge. No official conclusion has been drawn so far.

A case has been registered at Tushura police station, and officers are questioning local residents and family members to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the incident. The motorcycle found on the bridge has been taken into custody for examination.

As of the latest reports, police have stated that forensic and post-mortem reports are awaited to determine the cause of death. Further clarity is expected after the completion of medical examination and analysis of the evidence collected from the spot.
