Odisha bureaucrat’s picture in ruling-BJD’s poster stirs controversy
Bhubaneswar/Sambalpur: Controversy surfaced after allegations that the picture of Odisha Public Works department secretary was featured in a banner during a programme organised by the ruling-BJD.
Odisha BJP brought the allegations citing a banner displayed during a public meeting of BJD in Rairakhol of Sambalpur. The saffron party alleged that the ruling party, by using the photograph of the Public Works secretary, Nalini Kanta Pradhan, is trying to collect funds.
The photograph of a government official on the banner displayed during a party event is not a good omen for democracy, BJP members said at a press conference held in Bhubaneswar today.
BJP Spokesperson Pitambara Acharya said “There seems to be no distinction between the ruling party and the administration. How can a government official, who is paid salary from public money, figure in the party banner.”
On the other hand, BJD spokesperson Samir Das refuted the allegations saying that he has no such information about any party banner displaying photograph of any government official.
“I have no information about any govt official figuring in any party banner,” Das said.
