Bhubaneswar: Odisha born cricket journalist Sidhanta Patnaik passed away in Bengaluru on Saturday after a prolonged battle against cancer. He was 35.

Patnaik was a pioneer in covering women's and domestic cricket and is also the co-author of the book 'The Fire Burns Blue — A History of Women's cricket in India'. He is survived by his wife and a kid.

Born in Bhubaneswar, Patnaik started his career in journalism as a freelance writer with Cricket Country, before joining Wisden India in 2012.

He was an integral part of the Wisden India Almanack team and oversaw the running of Women’s CricZone website and magazine until recently.
