Bhubaneswar: Amid likelihood of very severe cyclonic storm Fani's impact, normal life has been hit in Odisha as the State continues to reel under intense heatwave condition.

Talcher was the hottest city in the State today with 46.3 degree Celsius, the maximum for any place in Odisha this season. Mercury shot above 40 degree mark in 13 cities.

While Titlagarh recorded 44.5 degree Celsius, mercury touched 43.2 degree Celsius in Jharsuguda and 43.1 degree Celsius in Angul.

Both Sambalpur and Bolangir recorded 43.0 degree Celsius, Bhawanipatna-42.5, Sonepur-41.6, Malkangiri-41.5 and Keonjhar recorded 40.6 degree Celsius during the day. Bhubaneswar stood at 38.8 degree Celsius.

Sources from Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar informed that the heatwave trend will continue till May 2. With the cyclonic storm Fani likely to touch down Andhra Pradesh coast by May 1, parts of Odisha may get relief from scorching heat thereafter.
