Odisha Bags 2nd Prize For Its R-Day Tableau Showcasing Lord Lingaraj’s Rukuna Ratha Jatra
Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: Millions witnessed a stunning display of India’s rich diversity and culture as 22 tableaux rolled down the Rajpath in the national capital during the Republic Day parade 2020. Among these, three tableaux that grabbed the maximum eyeballs represented the States of Assam, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh.
While tableaux of Jal Jeevan Mission and National Disaster Response Force were declared best during the Republic Day parade, among the State Tableaux, Assam bagged the first prize, Odisha and UP secured joint second position, ANI sources said quoting Defence officials.
The Odisha Tableau featuring Rukuna Ratha Jatra and Lingaraj Temple, which was designed by eminent artist Gajendra Sahoo and Chatrapati Biswal, was highly impressive and received accolades from all quarters.
Sahoo informed that the award will be presented by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today at Rashtriya Rangshala Camp in Delhi.
“I was very happy when Odisha tableau was shortlisted this year after having failed in the previous two occasions. To be frank, our focus was mainly on the rolling of tableau on Rajpath and we were hopeful that our presentation will bag award this time. That is what has happened,” expressed an elated Sahoo while speaking to OTV.
